National Lottery Authority Donates L$1.5 million to National County Sports Meet Kickball Category

The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has donated One Million Five Hundred Thousand Liberian Dollars (L$1.5 million) to the 2024 National County Sports Meet, specifically for cash prizes in the Kickball category. 

The donation, presented today, aims to recognize and reward outstanding performances in the competition. The prizes distribution includes: 

1. L$700,000 for the champion 

2. L$500,000 for the runner-up

3. L$220,000for the third place 

4. L$40,000 for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) 

5. L$20,000 for the Best Young Player 

6. L$20,000 for the Best Coach 

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Hon. Reginald K. Nagbe, Director General of the NLA, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to sports development and youth empowerment in Liberia. 

“The National County Sports Meet is an important event that unites the country and provides a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents.

As part of our corporate social responsibility, the NLA is proud to support the Kickball category by ensuring that the winners and outstanding players receive well-deserved prizes,” said Nagbe. 

He said the donation of NLA is a dedication to promoting sports at all levels, particularly in disciplines like Kickball, which continue to grow in popularity across Liberia. 

He also stated that it was done in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth & Sports.

For his part, Youth and Sports Deputy Minister for Sports, Hon. G. Andy Quamie lauded the Management of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) for Co-Sponsoring the just ended National County Sports Meet competition specifically the Kickball category.

Minister Quamie termed the prize awards as motivating factor especially for young people who have found passion in the game.
