Liberia and Benin elected Auditors of African Lottery Association (ALA)
The African Lottery Association (ALA) has concluded its 18th annual Congress in Casablanca, Morocco with Liberia and Benin being elected as Auditors of the Association.
The ALA annual congress which was held from 1-3 July 2019, brought together more than one hundred (100) stakeholders, notably, Lottery-Members of the African Lottery Association (AlA).
Also in attendance, were World Lotter Association (WLA) President, Rebecca Hargrove, the WLA Chair of the Sports Betting Integrity Committee, Jean-Luc Moner-Banet as well as the ALA President and Secretary General, Amadou Samba Kane and Younes EL Mechrafi respectively.
ALA started December 3, 1981 in Daakar, Senegal with 8 member Francophones Countries and opened arms to non-Francophones Countries (both private and public) giving birth to 15 members Countries.
National Lottery Authority (NLA) Acting Director General, Hon. Neved P. Kortu and Controller, Mr. Sellie Yengbeh represented Liberia at the ALA’s 18th annual Congress.
Speaking at the ceremony in Casablanca, Morocco, NLA Acting Director General, Hon. Neved P. Kortu stressed the importance of sport integrity and fight against the phenomenon of sport competition manipulations globally.
Hon. Kortu stressed that the National Lottery Authority has drafted a five year strategic plan to reform and strengthen the gaming industry in Liberia tailored on the Government of Liberia’s PRO POOR AGENDA for prosperity and Development under the Leadership of President George M. Weah.
He said the positive economic effects of the gaming industry on the Liberian economy are unmistakable and the National Lottery Authority has begun instituting appropriate mechanisms to foster partnership with potential investors for revitalization and expansion of the sector.
NLA Acting Director General warmly thanked ALA for organizing an excellent Congress and Liberia reelection as one of two AUDITORS (Liberia & Benin) of the Association assuring that Liberia will ensure transparency and accountability at every level.
